A 'Zap' is the automated workflow you create within Zapier between two or more platforms. Each Zap consists of a Trigger (such as a form entry) and an Action (a message being sent in FireText). Here, we'll guide you on how to create a Zap.
Ingredients for a Zap
STEP 1: Firstly, Choose what you'd like your automated flow to look like.
Example use case: Send users a welcome text message with a discount when they fill in our website form - to collect data and reward customers.
So, the formula will be: "When someone enters their number into a web form, send them a welcome message via FireText".
STEP 2: Choose your Trigger app. This is the app that you'd like to initiate the workflow.
In this example, we'll use Typeform to capture the mobile numbers.
STEP 3: Set up the Trigger. Here, our Trigger will be a 'New Entry in Typeform".
If you haven't yet connected your account, follow the prompts to sign in. You'll then be asked which form you'd like to monitor.
STEP 4: Choose an Action app. This is the app where the action will occur! This will be FireText.
STEP 5: Set up the Action. For example, "Send Message in FireText" or "Add a Contact".
If you haven't yet connected your FireText account to Zapier, follow the prompts to sign in and add your API Key (you can generate this by heading to SETTINGS > API > + ADD KEY in your FireText account).
STEP 6: For your message to be sent, you'll fill out the following fields:
*From: Your brand name (or FireText reply number) - this can be up to 11 alphanumeric characters.
*To: Map this to the phone number field from the Typeform submission.
*Message: Create the message content. You can include dynamic fields from the Typeform submission, such as the respondent’s name, answers, etc.
Pop FireText's fields, like the track URL, into square brackets. Make sure you test the Zap on your own phone number to see how it looks.
STEP 7: Now you're ready to test your Zap! For this, we'd suggest you complete a test form entry and enter your own mobile number to test with.
STEP 8: Once you're satisfied with the test, you can turn on the Zap, and it will run automatically in the background - ready to automate your text messages. Nice one!
It's as simple as that! As FireText has a direct integration with Zapier you can follow these steps for any one of the 1000+ apps in the Zapier App directory.
